Frequently Asked Questions for Baptist Colleagues

Select Health Alliance
What does the change in the physician network mean for me?
Our goal is always first and foremost to give our team members access to the best care and the best doctors in our area. There is no doubt that health care is changing and that there is pressure to keep costs down. With Select Health Alliance, Baptist had the opportunity to build an elite physician network from the ground up, rather than having our choices dictated by an insurance company. Every practice that joins SHA is committed to a model that delivers exceptional care while reducing unnecessary costs, which ultimately benefits all patients.
Is my current doctor in SHA?

For more than 80% of Baptist team members, your doctor is already in the SHA network. We’ve recruited more than 1,000 physicians to date, representing almost every specialty. If your physician isn’t included in the list at www.selecthealthalliance.com, you can ask him or her to contact SHA or ask SHA to help recruit the physician. SHA is all-inclusive, which means even Methodist doctors are eligible to join.

What if a needed specialty isn’t covered by an SHA doctor?
Aetna has contracted with physicians and specialties that aren’t currently part of SHA, including psychiatry and rheumatology, so you will not be out of network if they are part of Aetna and not SHA. Please visit Aetna’s website or call to ask about specifics.
What if I start a medical treatment (such as a pregnancy) with a non-SHA doctor in 2014? Will I have to change doctors mid-treatment?
Not necessarily. Aetna and Baptist have a Continuation of Care policy that keeps you in-network under most circumstances. Please contact your local Human Resources Department or the Benefits Department for additional information.
What if I have an urgent care need?
Your primary care physician may be able to accommodate you on short notice. However, Baptist has also expanded its same-day care options by opening new BMG walk-in clinics as well as partnering with Walgreens Take Care clinics, in addition to our Minor Med locations. As always, if you have a true emergency, please visit the nearest ER.
What if my child goes to school outside of the four counties?
Your covered dependents will continue to be considered in-network, but, as before, they will need to seek care from Aetna contracted physicians and facilities.
How does this affect taking my children to LeBonheur for specialized services Baptist doesn’t offer? How about an emergency situation?
You and your covered dependents will continue to be considered in-network under these circumstances.
What if I’m traveling and need emergency care?
You and your covered dependents will continue to be considered in-network under these circumstances.
Does this affect my dental and vision coverage?
No. Dental coverage through Humana and vision coverage through Davis remain separate, as they have been.
